This may get to you on Monday rather than Sunday, even though I will be posting it this evening. For some reason, blog posts do not go to subscribers, till 8 or 9 hours at times after I post it. So you will be receiving this post as well as tomorrow’s post in the same day.
There are many things I’d like to do in my life, from places to visit, adventures to have, but ultimately, I would like to inspire others. That I believe is my ultimate purpose. I received the following from a friend of mine, and it resonated with me greatly:
“One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these – to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity.” Excerpted from You Were Made For This, by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
Showing my soul is what I hope to do in this life of mine. I want to bring my soul on deck.and to allow the light that is within me to shine. To not hide it, smother it, question it, or doubt it but to fully open myself to it. I believe this light is my divine spark, mixed in with the essential parts of me and the elements of my own particular story. It is what allows me to inspire others. And so the story of my mother, the story of my own struggles with motherhood, the pain of a lost childhood, all important elements for my soul’s purpose.
My hope is that I can return to this truth in my own shadowy times. I tend to forget you see. I get wrapped in my story and forget the grand scheme of things. I forget why I am here and some days I lose sight of my own purpose.
I hope that other souls will be on deck sending up a flare, building a signal fire and displaying the lantern of their own souls, calling me, calling each other back on deck.
